É uma história no mínimo curiosa.
É fato que eu adoro sebos, lojas que vendem artigos usados, como livros, revistas, cds...
Não somente pelo preço, mas pela variedade. Uns anos atrás eu estava passeando pelos cds e me deparo com isso:
As vezes eu compro cds pela capa, e essa me agradou muito, afinal sempre gostei da mitologia hindu e da cultura Hare Krsna.
Do que se trata? Nitay Gouranga Das pode ser considerado "krsnacore", ou seja, rock com tema Hare Krsna. As músicas, baseadas em mantras, orações e culto as divindades e estórias envolvendo personagens da mitologia/religião hindu. Ah, a banda é de São Paulo.
As músicas são cantadas em sãnscrito, mas o detalhe interessante: guitarra, baixo e bateria embalam os mantras, modernizando a devoção.
Afinal, como agradar a juventude de hoje que gosta de Legião Urbana, Nirvana e Guns N Roses?

The Social Network é o filme que fala sobre a vida de Mark Zuckberg, criador do site Facebook.
Meses atrás eu me surpreendi que a trilha sonora desse filme seria composta por Trent Reznor, pai das bandas Nine Inch Nails e How to Destroy Angels.
Mês passado comprei a trilha sonora, e hoje, consultando a caixa do correio, vi que um pacote havia chego:
Eu adoro trilhas sonoras e Trent Reznor é meu artista favorito. Tem como errar?
Não posso deixar de mencionar a participação de Atticus Ross nesse trabalho.
Aliás, nas discografia de TR, esse trabalho vem logo depois do projeto musical How To Destroy Angels, onde AR também participa, junto com a esposa de TR.
Em seguida, agora em novembro teremos o relançamento do primeiro álbum de sua carreira (o Pretty Hate Machine) e o que virá na sequência? O seriado baseado no álbum Year Zero? Outro álbum remasterizado?
Aliás, TR terá um filho... como essa experiência vai afetar seu trabalho?

Pretty Hate Machine será relançado por Trent Reznor!

"Eu estou feliz de finalmente anunciar a reedição do primeiro disco do Nine Inch Nails "Pretty Hate Machine", liberando 11/22 em todo o mundo. UMe e Bycicle Music Group conseguiram localizar os mixes originais, então eu fui no estúdio com Tom Baker e remasterizei-o para uma experiência sonora bastante melhorada. Além disso, Rob reinterpretou a capa original Gary Talpas 'para fazer um pacote novo e fresco.
Foi uma viagem interessante ver o destino desta gravação a partir de um conjunto de mãos para o outro (uma história longa e deprimente), mas ela acabou indo parar em território amigo, que nos permite poli-lo um pouco e apresentá-lo a você agora. Nós nos divertimos revisitar este velho amigo, espero que gostem."

Tenho estado fascinado com tudo relacionado a Egito. E graças a esse interesse, resolvi dar mais atenção a esse artista, Karl Sanders:
"Karl Sanders (born June 5, 1964) is a vocalist/guitarist and founding member of the Egyptian-themed technical death metal band Nile. He was born in California, and lives in Greenville, South Carolina. He is known for his extremely fast and technical guitar work. Karl is endorsed by Jackson Guitars and Dean Guitars, and has two signature models by Kxk-guitars. He is ranked 4 in the Decibel Magazine ranking of the 20 best death metal guitar players of all time. He has a vast knowledge of Egyptian mythology which heavily influences his work."
Já tinha ouvido ele a alguns meses atrás, e curti muito essa música:

Recentemente baixei o álbum Saurian Exorcisms, e nele tive acesso a outra que gostei muito:

"Combinando a velocidade extrema e o niilismo do death metal moderno com o estilo ancestral da música do Oriente Médio, o Nile se formou na cidade natal dos membros, Greensberg, Carolina do Sul, em 1993. Com sua marca auto-proclamada de “Ithyphallic Metal”, Karl Sanders(guitarra/vocal), Chief Spires (baixo/vocal), e Pete Hammoura (bateria) estrearam com seu álbum “Festivals of Atonement” em 1995, levando o Nile para uma turnê no sudoeste americano suportando outros grandes grupos de metal como Obituary, Deicide e Broken Hope."
Embora eu não curta esse estilo (se olharem as últimas banidas na Lastfm a maioria é por causa da "voz de sentado no sanitário") o projeto solo dele tem uma temática toda dirigida, é como se fosse a trilha sonora de um filme, ou livro, sobre o egito.
A mitologia egípcia é muito rica: tem um panteão vasto, com muitas divindades, e também sempre foi uma das civilizações que mais dava atenção para o lado da morte:

O objetivo destes textos era ajudar o morto em sua viagem para o outro mundo, afastando eventuais perigos que este poderia encontrar na viagem para o Além."

"Sinestesia (do grego συναισθησία, συν- (syn-) "união" ou "junção" e -αισθησία (-esthesia) "sensação") é a relação de planossensoriais diferentes: Por exemplo, o gosto com o cheiro, ou a visãocom o olfato. O termo é usado para descrever uma figura de linguagem e uma série de fenômenos provocados por uma condição neurológica."
Não pretendo assistir o filme, as vezes tudo que quero é sentir a obra musicalmente. E não seria isso um tipo de sinestesia? "Assistir" pelo "som".
Que sensações a música trará? Quais as cenas imaginarei? Quem serão os protagonistas, seus anseios, suas buscas, suas resoluções... como será o final?
A resposta é: serão tantos aqueles que eu imaginar, a cada vez que ouvir a música. O filme vira um papel em branco, onde minha mente desenha com suas cores o script da estória.
E... no dia que eu assistir o filme, será apenas uma dessas formas, uma das visões.

"Give it Up" - 8mm
“A verdadeira arte que forma você irá mergulhar em seu mundo, criando um refúgio para a imaginação e lembranças para florescer em uma extensão viva. Uma banda que é respirar nova vida no plano artístico é 8mm”. Essa fabulosa banda de trip-hop criada em Los Angeles, Califórnia, é formada por Sean Beavan, Juliette Beavan (esposa de Sean) e Jon Nicholson, para quem não sabe Sean já trabalhou com Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails e God Lives Underwater, o 8mm possui em sua música um triste e melancólico retrato de contos secretos, memórias nostálgicas e profundos segredos escuros. As inspirações dos integrantes contam com nomes que vão desde os veteranos Portishead, Louis Armstrong, Patsy Cline, PJ Harvey até Tom Jobim. O primeiro EP, “Opener” lançado em 2004 de maneira totalmente independente nem tem características de álbum de estréia devida sua excelente qualidade musical, posteriormente lançaram o “Songs To Love And Die By” em 2006 pela Curb Appeal Records.

Sunday Munich é uma banda formada por Sarah Matthews (Vocais, Letras) e Avis/Menton J. Matthews III (Violoncelo, Piano, Violão, loops, programação).
A música deles é uma amálgama de muitos tipos diferentes de música. É etérea, mas não "viaja". Tem os pés no chão e a pureza de dor e emoção.
Loops de discos velhos riscados, vocais de cortar o coração e um temor aterrorizante são partes da música do Sunday Munich. Enquanto Sarah canta, Avis constrói um ambiente musical caótico e hipnótico ao redor dela, começando com o violoncelo e teclado, indo para um gentil violão e batidas fortes, desde um baixo pulsante a estática que chia, presença em peso de eletrônica, mas também com emoção humana.
Seu primeiro álbum, Pneuma, mistura vocais femininos góticos, as vezes lembrando Cranes, e outras vezes mais profundo e articulado, com instrumentação a lá Portishead, como os samplers celestiais.
O segundo lançamento, Vinculum, é mais light. Loops de bateria se encontram com vocais etéreos, uma mistura de Trip Hop e Cocteau Twins. Vinculum é uma colagem hipnótica de pulsos, batidas e vocal feminina assombrosa e depressiva.
